Thank You Parents and School Community

A huge thank you to our parents and school community for the care and compassion you have given to Shaun, his family and our school staff over the last week. We are so grateful for the thoughtfulness you have shown and the kind donations of meals, chocolates and flowers. Thank you to Peter Mould for the great work he is doing in SC2 in keeping the students in routine and continuing on with the intended learning program that Shaun has created for the students. A big thank you to all the students for their flexibility on Wednesday in heading down to our Buninyong Campus and the staff there that supported our students while we attended the funeral. Again, we express our heartfelt gratitude and thanks to everyone.

Welcome Picnic - Meet and Greet Picnic

Our Welcome Picnic - Meet and Greet was a big success last Tuesday despite the weather putting on a terrible turn just as tea was being served! We thank all the families that attended and hope we were able to give you another insight into our wonderful campus and what is going on in your child’s classroom. It was wonderful to see the children enjoying each other’s company, as well as the parents having a chance to chat and catch up and meet new families. Again, we invite you to provide us with any feedback or thoughts on how the night was delivered or in comparison to our past Meet and Greet and Welcome Picnic formalities. Please remember, if you need to catch up with your child’s teacher for a more formal chat, please feel free to contact them and make arrangements.

Teddy Bears Picnic

The annual Scotsburn Teddy Bear’s Picnic took place on Monday with lots of excited children and their much loved teddies sharing a day at school together. Prep students from Buninyong took part in this special event as well where teachers from both campuses organised fun activities such as a ‘Bear Hunt’ and ‘Parachuting’. It was wonderful to see many of the students catching up with their friends from kinder, as well as meeting some familiar faces from when we visit the Buninyong campus. As you can see from the photos the students had a wonderful time – their smiles just brighten up your day!

Spelling Mastery

A big thank you to our parents who have volunteered to be part of our Spelling Mastery Program. We are still looking for helpers on a Thursday and Friday. If you can spare 25 minutes at 9:00am on either of these days can you please let us know. It is very simple and we are more than happy to help and ‘teach’ you the ropes. Your help is very much appreciated!

Back Creek Farm

This Friday we have our first visit from Back Creek Farm for 2020. The Year 9 students will be coming along to work alongside our Grade 4, 5, 6 students for the afternoon. They will be assisting in our animal care program, maintaining the running track and helping do some gardening. We look forward to their visit and then of course to visiting them on the 6th March.

SC2 Parent Liaison Person

We are still looking for a parent, or two, for our PLP helper for SC2. If you can help, please see Ana

SC3 Diaries

We have recently received the Grade 5/6 diaries and the students have begun using them. If you have not had a look yet, please do so and familiarise yourself with the different ways in which the diaries will be used this year. We are very excited!

Parent Helper Program

With so many wonderful opportunities for parents to be involved with the campus, understanding and being aware of the school’s expectations is important. Please remember that a current Working with Children’s Check is required, with a copy to be given to the Buninyong office and for Shaun to keep on site. A volunteer Working with Children’s Check is free for volunteers and is easy obtain. Please see the Working with Children’s Check Victoria website for more information or to apply and renew your card.

We will be participating in the Buninyong 2020 Smart Building & Living Expo again this year. We will be exhibiting both solar boats and energy breakthrough vehicles, as well as selling plats to help assist in the cost of these fantastic opportunities our students have on offer.
