2019 School Payments & Contributions

2019 School Payments and Contributions will be available for processing on Compass from tomorrow afternoon, Friday 16th November.

Full payment and booklist information will be sent out via compass once it has been made live.

It is the school’s preference that all payments are made via the Compass Parent Portal as you will be able to complete all annual school agreements required at the same time. Compass accepts Visa Debit and Credit cards.

Payment plans are also available if you pay via Compass. This is the recommended option if you intend to pay for all essential and voluntary contributions, but perhaps cannot do so right now.

Manual payments can be made at the office by cash, cheque, credit card or EFTPOS.  If you choose this option you must still access Compass to complete the annual school agreements.

Manual payments will not be accepted over the phone or by writing credit card details on the bottom of the payment slip.

Payment Plan Dates

If you have signed up to a payment plan for the 2019 School Payments the dates of your automatically deducted installments are below. Please mark them in your diary. Dates will also be in the Compass Calendar.

Should any payments fail to be processed, you will receive an email from Compass. Please contact the office should this occur to have the issue rectified. It is the card holders responsibility to ensure any changes to card details are updated with the office to avoid missed or unprocessed installments.

Student Banking 2019

After great discussion and consultation, School Council has decided that Ormond Primary will not be continuing the Commonwealth Bank Student Banking Program in 2019.

Student Banking will continue as per normal for the remainder of 2018, with the last day of banking taking place on Thursday 13th December.

For all those students who currently have 10 or more Dollarmites tokens and wish to order their rewards, please do so in this week's banking (Thursday 29th). Orders will be accepted up until the final day of banking, however these rewards will not be delivered until Term 1 2019, so we suggest ordering them this week.

If you are unsure of how many tokens you have, please check out the CommBank Youth App, or see Brodie.

Scholastic Book Club

Scholastic Book Club order forms are going home tomorrow, Friday 16th November. Orders/payments are due by TODAY Thursday 29th November 2018. Payments are to be made directly to Scholastic using the payment options on the brochure. No late orders will be accepted to ensure delivery by the end of the school year. If your orders are for Christmas and you do not want your children to see, please contact the office to arrange a parent pick up.

Library News

The last day of library borrowing is Friday 30th November  2018.

All books are to be returned as soon as possible from next week so we can start 2019 with a library full of books for our students.

Also if books cannot be found, parents are asked to contact the school to make arrangements for a book replacement.

Christmas Toy & Food Appeal

The SRC team has teamed up with Anglicare Victoria to help vulnerable families or out-of-home care individuals to ensure they receive toys and nutritional meals this Christmas.

Each year level is asked to kindly donate different items, so we have a variety to give.

Anglicare has asked that donations are new and unwrapped.

Foundation News

The last fortnight in Foundation has been one of our busiest yet! It all started with our long awaited Foundation Concert, titled First Year of School.

The children danced and sang their way through the evening reflecting on, and singing songs about their first school year. From listening to the children, the biggest feeling shared from the experience was… excitement!

Last week, to supplement our inquiry learning of ‘living things - animals’, the children visited the Royal Melbourne Zoo. We stopped at all our favourite animals, taking particular notice of each animal’s surroundings and habitat, and what natural coverings and markings the animals had, whilst continuing to ask inquiring questions to find out more about our living world.

The children thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to see so many mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and even some fish!

This term, in Inquiry we continue to find out about ‘living things’ and the requirements needed for them to stay alive. Now that we have accumulated so much information, we will commence making our dioramas from next week.

We are looking forward to two weeks of the swimming program which commences this Monday, 3rd December. Volunteers to assist are most welcome. Please see the recent email sent to all parents last Tuesday.

Student Achievemnets

We are pleased to let you know that Artur in Foundation and Eric in Year 3 has passed a Judo practical and knowledge test called a grading at the Bentleigh-Southern Judo Club.

This is no easy task and requires a great deal of practice.  The grade is awarded by the presentation of a coloured Judo belt.

Junior Judo belts are in varying colours signifying age and expertise.  Both Artur and Eric have been awarded a Yellow belt.

Well done boys!
