Key Learning Areas

Society & Culture
Year 12 Society & Culture recently visited the Nan Tien Buddhist Temple to support their learning of the Buddhist belief system. The Nan Tien Temple is the largest Buddhist temple in the Southern Hemisphere and is now connected to the Nan Tien Institute (University) via the newly constructed footbridge.
The aim of the excursion was to allow the students to explore the symbols, architecture, statues, surrounding gardens and places of worship of the Buddhist Nuns and also to be immersed in Buddhist culture for the day.
Although the day was wet and cold, the Year 12 students eagerly explored the Front Shrine, the Main Shrine, The Pagoda, the lotus pond and the Museum between the showers. As the heavy rain set in at lunch time, the class visited the Dining Hall where they were able to enjoy a hot buffet style lunch, cooked by the temple chefs – a selection of traditional vegetarian dishes.
Overall, despite the wet weather, the day was enjoyed by all. The students should be congratulated on their respectfulness and enthusiasm whilst visiting the Nan Tien Temple.

Hospitality
Year 12 Hospitality Students host the Tree Tops Café to all staff every second Wednesday during lunch. The staff are always very impressed by the professional service and exquisite menu’s the students work hard to offer. The students agree that they couldn’t do it without their teachers. Thank you, Mrs Cormack & Alison.
