TUFF Project - Blokes of BCS
Last term BCS initiated the boys mentoring program TUFF to give the boys a mentor to yarn to when they are feeling like a chat and to check in on the boys.
Mr James Crocker, a Youth Counsellor from Yass visited on Monday to talk to the boys about the difficulties of being a young man and how we deal with problems in our lives when they arise. The boys were very responsive and gained a lot from his visit.
Last week Mr Keighley and myself went to the Boorowa Rotary club meeting to explain the TUFF program to them and request funding to make the program as great as possible. Rotary were very impressed with the efforts of the staff and announced that they would sponsor the program for 2019. It was a very generous gesture from Rotary and the boys at school are very thankful.
With the money we hope to soon have a "Great blokes in my life" night where the boys can bring a role model into the school for a BBQ. Watch this space for details to come.

Group Dynamics
The secondary girls and female staff came together on Monday to complete a variety of mentoring activities. The girls viewed a TED discussion on group dynamics. Students discovered that being the best and pushing your ideas onto the group your working with will lead to failure. However, ensuring that each group member has a voice and can offer an opinion will lead to success. The girls broke up into teams and completed activities that required the girls to work as one. There were some very funny outcomes! Ms Hawkins then showed the girls a presentation about self-worth and the importance of looking after each other. We all found the sessions fun and informative!
