Primary & Infants Particulars
Mrs Harpley's Year 3/4 Class
MATHS
This term Mrs Dymock has been looking at lines, angles and 2D shapes. We have just finished a unit on patterns & algebra, and soon will be starting multiplication and division. Students needs to learn their times tables as they are important to all other mathematical strands.
ENGLISH
This term in English we will be doing a unit of work based on Roald Dahl's 'Revolting Rhymes'. Activities will include writing in a variety of text types and studying plot, setting and characters through individual, partner, group and whole class reading activities.
HSIE
This semester's unit of work has focused on 'Changes in the Community'. We are focusing specifically on changes in education.
CREATIVE ARTS
Students have completed drawings of a cup to look at shape, line and symmetry.

Uniform
A reminder to families that as the season has changed we have moved into winter uniform for Term 2, long grey pants for boys and long navy pants for girls or navy stockings. Boys should wear grey socks with girls wearing white socks and all primary children wear the red school jumper, a navy coat for cooler days. It is lovely to to see our students dressed in the correct uniform.
Athletics Carnival
This week a note will be coming home about our combined K-12 Athletics Carnival on the 7th of June. Infants students will meet their class teacher at the Rec Oval for roll marking at 9am. Kindergarten, Yr 1 and those Yr 2 students that turn 7 this year will have 70 metre races followed by tabloid events until 11am. These students will then walk to school with Miss Morris and Mrs Proudford. Yr 2 students who turn 8 this year will remain at he Rec Oval with Miss Downey for further track and field events. Buses will drop students to the Oval and pick up from both the school and the oval. Please contact Mrs Proudford if you have any enqiries about the Athletics Carnival.
Kindergarten Capers
Kindergarten have settled in to term two and are enjoying showing off (in a good way) all the things they have learnt so far.
They are reading books independently, sounding out words and beginning to write their own sentences. In Maths they have been working on counting forwards to 30 and beyond and counting backwards, as well as adding groups together. Next we will move on to subtraction. During science we have been focusing on how things move and the forces that help them move.
Kindergarten have fallen in love with Pig the Pug and his friend Trevor. Pig's antics have given us many laughs in the kindergarten classroom, so if you hear loud laughing coming from the Infants building it probably has something to do with a funny thing that Pig has done in one of the books!

Bringing the fun back into reading
National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in many other places around the country. Now in its 19th successful year, it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children's book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum.
This is the 5th year Boorowa Central School Kinder and Year 1 students have taken part in the NSS. Students were involved in a reading of Alpacas with Maracas. They were able to; play different instruments having fun like the characters Macca and Al in the story, received a certificate for being part of the event and took a package of activities back to their classes.
- promote the value of reading and literacy,
- promote the value and fun of books,
- promote an Australian writer and publisher,
- promote storytime activities in public libraries and communities around the country,
- and provide opportunities to involve parents, grandparents, the media and others to participate in and enjoy the occasion.
Well done all students who took part.
