Principal's Message

Message from Mrs Paula Hambly
This term is filled with sporting achievements and artistic endeavours, while including the daily rigour of the normal lessons that are being delivered in the classroom. We have had students successfully representing the school and the District at the Cross Country and Gymnastics with some of these students making it to the next level. It seems that Netball is the sport of choice at the moment with a huge contingent of players competing this week, with both boys and girls teams representing BCS.
We have had 22 students selected to take part in the Binit Binit Learning Community Art and About Art Trail. This involves the students working with professional artists to create artworks which will then be exhibited as part of our education week celebrations in term 3.
Year 12 students have now received their mid-year reports as they move closer to the HSC. These can be used to guide some of your time with your teacher mentor to make sustainable improvements for the last few months of Year 12. Year 11 students will be receiving their reports soon with the rest of the school to follow at the end of the term.
Monday 27 May is our transition night for Kindergarten and Year 7 for 2020. I welcome all interested parties to join us for this evening of information to help prepare your child for these transition periods of their schooling.
Macquarie Fields High School Future Teachers Field Trip
On Wednesday this week we were lucky enough to have 48 students from Macquarie Fields High School include us as a stop on their Future Teachers Field Trip. This program caters to students in the South Western area of Sydney school who are interested in moving into education once they leave school. They are bringing these students to country schools to encourage them to consider rural schools and the job opportunities they can provide on graduation. The students spent time with our senior students and their discussions showed the vast differences between our schools. Their numbers in year 7 being the same as the entire population of our school. They were amazed at the relationships between students and the staff at BCS and the fact that we really knew our students which is something that they don’t experience due to the size of their school. The students spent time in the Primary classes seeing just how a Central School works and assisting some of our youngest students. This visit was supported by the University of Western Sydney who were a part of the field trip. Macquarie Fields High School have invited us for a return visit some time in the future.
Boorowa Central School Fees for 2019
The Voluntary School Contribution remains at $40 per child. This is considerably lower than most other schools in our area. Whilst this is a voluntary fee we would ask that as many families as possible pay this amount to assist with our running costs.
The Secondary Course Fees for Electives are compulsory. These fees must be paid by Week 10 Term 1 or your child will be asked to select a non-fee paying elective. These fees enable us to purchase equipment and other necessary items to enable the course to be successfully delivered. Once again these fees are considerably lower than most schools in our area.
Fees can be paid at the front office with cash or cheque or online via our website:

Click on the Make a Payment tab.
I thank you for your support in meeting these obligations.
Woolworths Earn and Learn Program
We are excited to be taking part in the Woolworths Earn & Learn program. You can help our school by collecting Woolworths Earn & Learn points. Just collect Woolworths Earn & Learn points when you shop at Woolworths between Wednesday 1st May and Tuesday 25th June 2019. We will redeem these for awesome educational resources for our school.
Simply pop them onto a Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker Sheet and once it is completed, just bring it back to school to the drop in boxes in Primary and Infants areas. You can also drop it into the Ccllection box at Yass or Young Woolies. The more we collect, the more we can redeem. There are thousands of products available through the Woolworths Earn & Learn program, and we would like to get lots of new gear! Products in the range include resources for mathematics, English, science, art & crafts, through to sports gear, library supplies and more.
We are grateful for your support and look forward to a successful program. If you have any questions, please ask at school.
