Year 9 Further Food at St. Peter’s College

Throughout Term 2, the Year 9 Further Food students have been learning about Food Styling. They have learnt that the initial attraction of food comes from its visual appeal and that the presentation of a dish is just as important as its flavour. They now understand that the most important elements of food styling are balance, colours, textures, space, what the food is served on and how it is garnished.

 

The students have been given multiple opportunities to put what they have learnt into practice by making garnishes and competing in sweet and savoury plating challenges. The students have grown in their confidence and ability to style food and have plated some restaurant quality dishes.
