Subject Selection for 2020
Subject Selection at St. Peter’s College is driven by student choice. Using web preferences software the College is able to ensure that the majority of students receive their preferred choice of subjects.
If a subject does not receive sufficient student interest – it will not be offered in 2020.
For this reason considerable time and effort is given to informing students about each subject offering.
This process Includes
1. Publication of the Curriculum Handbook.
This year the Handbook will NOT be produced in hard copy. The digital flip book has been sent to all students and is available on our website. Parents and Guardians are asked to read through with their sons and daughters and begin discussions about subject choice.
Please click on the above title to access the handbook.
2. Futures Expo
All students in Year 8 - 12 will be involved in the Futures Expo. This will take place on Monday, 22 July for Clyde North students and on Tuesday, 23 July for Cranbourne students.
This is a normal school day for students in Years 8 - 12, with students expected to attend from Tutor group until 3.20 pm.
The day will involve students rotating through a series of information sessions. All key learning areas will explain the content and pathways for their subjects so that students are fully informed when making subject selection choices.
Parent Information sessions will be available from 4.00pm – 6.00pm in the Discovery Centre at Clyde North and in the Multipurpose Hall at Cranbourne.
3. Subject Selection Interviews
Because Years 9 into Year 10 and Years 10 into Year 11 have so many options available regards subject selection, the Curriculum Team would like to meet with each student and their parents to clarify any last minute questions that were not answered during Futures Expo. Year 10 Interviews will be allocated to Parents on Monday, 20 July and Tuesday, 30 July.
Year 9 Interviews will take place Wednesday, 24 July and Thursday, 25 July. A CareMonkey reminder will be sent to assist parents in attending these Subject Selection Interviews. Any parent who cannot attend there designated time are asked to call the Front Office to reschedule.
Students are encouraged to also speak to their Learning Advisor and our careers staff to ensure they are fully informed before submitting 2020 subject selections.
