Partnership with St Kilda Football Club

HPSC is working closely with St Kilda Football Club and on Sunday 29th May, 10 students were involved in the Guard of Honor at the Sir Doug Nicholls indigenous round at Marvel Stadium – St Kilda vs North Melbourne.

Our students were on the ground, near the St Kilda banner when the players ran out.  We had a great time watching the footy and were happy that St Kilda won!  Thanks to Mr Paul Broecker for driving the community bus and Debbie Edwards for organising the day.

Mind Body Pedal Program

Bicycle Network attended HPSC to run their Mind Body Pedal Program on the 31 May 2022 for all year 9 female identifying students. The program empowers students to tackle barriers to physical and mental health through bike education, yoga practice and emotional wellbeing. Facilitators ran four sessions with our students which included the following:

Yoga Session: A qualified yoga instructor took students through a session devoted to the mind body connection. The group discussed mindfulness and were taken through a series of breathing and stretching exercises. This session is designed to show just how important moving your body is.

Bike Education: Students took part in bike riding. They were taught road rules, how to be a respectful road user as well as a bit of a history lesson of the bicycle.

Students engaged in a wellbeing session where the group explored self-esteem, your inner critic as well as peer pressure and challenging social norms.

AFL Guest speaker shared achievements as a female sports advocate.
