Sponsoring Social Entrepreneurship @ Year 10

LaTrobe University sponsors Year 10 unit

In Connect during Term 3, Year 10 students will explore Social Entrepreneurship.  Each Year 10 class will create a Social Enterprise to support a social and/or environmental issue they are passionate about. This will involve partnering with a local community organisation, selecting an appropriate trading opportunity, writing a business plan and forecast budget.  We are currently seeking seed funding and sponsorship that will be used to help our students put their ideas into action.  Each class will have a minimum profit target of $400.

We are thrilled that LaTrobe University has agreed to be a sponsor for this unit.

The university says:

La Trobe university is proud to be a sponsor of Northcote High School’s Year 10 Social Entrepreneurship unit which gives students the chance to launch their own social enterprise start-up. This year celebrating 50 years of excellence, social justice is ingrained in La Trobe’s DNA and the university has a long history of working to engage and improve communities both locally and abroad. One example includes La Trobe’s Aspire Early Admissions Program – which recognises high school students who have a positive impact on their community, rewarding them with an early conditional offer into their dream course. Today, La Trobe ranks amongst the top two per cent of universities in the world, has a global network of more than 180,000 alumni and more than 80 undergraduate degrees available across all campuses.
