Year 10 House Extension

Students were given a design brief that required them to add an extension to an existing house plan. The extension consisted of an additional bedroom, a study and an ensuite off the main bedroom. A scaled plan was first drawn including the new roof line. Students then produced a three dimensional digital model of the house including the surrounding garden. 

Year 8 Photograms

In this task, the Year 8 students explored traditional black and white photography in the darkroom to create a ‘Photogram’. Photograms are photographic prints made by placing objects on light sensitive paper and exposing it to light. They are made in a ‘darkroom’ without the use of a camera. This task focused on composition and placement of translucent, transparent and opaque objects on the photographic paper.

The students also learnt about safety in the darkroom, how to use the photographic enlarger and how to process their artistic prints in the developing chemicals.

Year 8 Bird Mobiles

Students applied their knowledge of Design Elements and Principles when creating their bird mobile. They experimented with Illustrator digitally or used manual skills to create a pattern to place on a bird template. This work was produced on card, cut out and made into a mobile.

Year 11 VCD Logo and Carry Bag Design

Students had to design a logo and surface graphics for a carry bag for “Little Gardening” , which is opening its new premises. The nursery supplies most shrubs and trees as well as gardening equipment and products. The décor in the nursery building reflects the Art Nouveau style so students had to make their design reflect this design period.

Year 9 Stencil Art 

The Year 9 Art class explored Street Art and the various array of art making techniques used by street artists. The students developed their own multi-layered stencils by manipulating a photograph in Photoshop. The stencils were then carefully cut out by hand using a scalpel knife before being spray painted.
