Victorian High Ability Program

Once again this term a number of our junior students participated in an intense online program aimed at extending and supporting students in English and Mathematics.

The Victorian High-Ability Program consists of an intensive ten-week online course for selected students across the state in Years 5-8, in either Mathematics or English. Almost 50,000 students will participate in this exciting new challenge and extension program this year. The following students are to be commended for their efforts in taking up this challenge in addition to successfully managing the everyday challenges of their first year of secondary school.

Congratulations to Hayden Baker, Samuel Davies, Andrew Doan, Aydan Gulwadi, Dominic Panozzo, Tyson Tsan, Evan Shields and Zhuoxuan (Nicholas) Jiang.

I started VHAP in term two and it was a great event for me. The maths program was really exciting with something new every week and I learnt many things such as the Fibonacci sequence and Zeno's paradox. The VHAP program also allowed me to meet some new people and cooperate with them on various tasks. This program has been a wonderful experience and one that I won’t forget.

Enterprise Club Up-date

During my experience in the stock market game, my group managed to understand the game pretty fast and things were going well for the first 2 weeks until we neared the end of our journey, in which we had a loss of $700. Despite our fairly big loss we still learned a lot of very useful skills for the future. – Jack Johns

The stock market game was a good way to get a feel of the real world stock market. I learned a lot during my experience like: how to sell and buy stocks, how to work out how much they would be and what stocks to invest in. It was pretty fun and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Overall in the game we did alright, only losing a few hundred dollars, but we did learn a lot during the game. – Joshua Petersen

The game managed to easily teach me the methods of the stock market in a pleasurable way and I would like to thank the teachers Ms. Mattson and Ms. Kaur for introducing me to this game. – Jules Dalton
