Reading - what's in it for us?

For this edition, I have looked at a range of articles on reading and its benefits.  See the links below. Reading is not only a magical activity that can totally remove us from our surroundings, but a way to improve our vocabulary, knowledge, and communication skills. It is important that we value reading for pleasure and encourage it in our students and children; it enhances learning skills and is beneficial to wellbeing.

'It is important to be open-minded about what we consider reading and encourage your child to read anything and everything of their choice. ' Sarah Hart, Middle School Inclusive Practices Coordinator, Ambrose Treacy College.

The Penguin site has the latest books for YA, activities, even recipes, and information on authors.  For our students that are fans of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, you can read about the author, Jeff Kinney, and find out about his latest books.
