Book In a Day Workshops
The Book-in-a-day Challenge began with workshops run by professional writers and illustrators from Express Media.
The students needed to download new software and participate via a conferencing link all whilst working remotely. Five intrepid students took up this opportunity; Tristan Estrada, Alex Burd, Matthew Sinclair, Ruhani Kaushal and Clara Matters-Jara.
The workshops on offer were, Starting Your Story, Graphic Narratives and Creative Paths to Non-fiction. The students found the experience challenging, inspiring and fun. Here are some of the writing and illustrations they worked on.
Prompt Writing - The thing I fear most
I was standing there, petrified, looking as I knew my time was up. It wasn't moving but it most certainly would. What felt like hours passed.
"Why isn't it moving?" I swore I would have passed out at any moment.
It then ran away. "Thank gosh it's gone, it could of bit me. Or worse, killed me!"
I ran and grabbed the bug spray. It has to come back soon! Attack me when I'm not looking.
Perhaps it will end me in my sleep! So many thoughts were going around my head just wondering what would happen if I didn't kill it.

"I hate Spiders so much!"
As I dived, it felt like time had slowed so much it was almost completely stopped. I saw everything in vivid detail. The crazy man chasing me, The birds flying terrified from the trees. After what seemed like a lifetime my hands broke the surface of the icy frost covered water and I had to use all of my willpower to stay below the water surface so that the terrifying serial killer that chased me from my house to the edge of the cliff that I dived off."
