The Drama Class of 2020 recently completed their Trial Performance Examinations. The examiner, HSC marker Ms Emma Flick, enjoyed her day with Year 12 and commented on how well prepared the students were. She made particular mention of the positive support evident between students in the class. Ms Flick took time to give each student individual feedback to help refine final performances and submissions. All the very best to these students as they make final preparations prior to the HSC performance exam on 1 September.
Year 9 and 10 Elective Music students are busy preparing for a series of lunchtime performances which will be held over the coming weeks. Times and dates are as follows:
Students are most welcome to come along to support these concerts.
Students from Years 9 and 11 Music 2 recently had the opportunity to engage in a virtual workshop and concert with Aura Go and Tomoe Kawabata, lecturers in piano at Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music, Monash University. Aura and Tomoe discussed contemporary Australian compositions, achieving excellence in ensemble playing and interpretation in music with our students.
Thanks to Musica Viva and Orange Regional Conservatorium of Music for providing this opportunity. Thanks also to Tracy Kelly in ICT who helped facilitate the event.
On the weekend a new speech and drama competition called ‘Speak Up’ was run. It was organised by Lucy Kirk, an ex-KWS student, to aid the Country Women’s Association. The event used Zoom as a means of performing and entries came from all over the Central West and Western Sydney.
KWS students did exceptionally well:
Congratulations to all of these students!
