Principal's Report

Well done to everyone- students, parents, staff for a very different and successful Term 2. Words cannot express my gratitude to you all for working together to move forward in these difficult, unprecedented and every changing times. I hope everyone will have a well-earned rest and be ready for Term 3.

CareMonkey is here!

This week we reported that FlexiBuzz is no longer operating after the end of June. Thankfully we were planning on transferring to the Care Monkey Platform which has been brought forward this term.

Parents will have received an email to register for Care Monkey. This email was sent to the main contact on the school enrolment form (Parent A). You may have to check with your spouse or partner if they received the email. If you would like the registration to change to the other parent, please contact the school as soon as possible to arrange this via email.

I ask that you register this week so you can continue to receive communications from the school, particularly as there may be updates regarding the COVID19 situation and the school building.

You may already use Care Monkey through a community or sports association. It means:

  • No more paper permission forms
  • Only filling out your child’s medical details and information once
  • Updating details only when necessary
  • No lost forms!

Care Monkey has many other functions which we will roll out slowly over next term.

If you have any questions about Care Monkey, please contact Business Manager Dr Rosella Dossi.

No Team Kids Vacation Care at Huntingdale this holiday period

Just a reminder that due to the building works Team Kids are not offering their vacation care program at our school. However, they are running programs out of other local schools. Please see their website to find out about these services.

Building Works

The building works continue to progress well. The building team has been focusing on moving all of the electrical and internet points away from the main building, in preparation for its demolition over the school holidays.

I remind all families that the school is fully closed over the holiday period. No staff, students or parents can be onsite during this time. This includes the grounds, oval and play equipment.

Please remind friends or neighbours who you know use the school.

Triple P online is now available for free to all Victorian families

Families can now access free expert parenting advice through the online Triple P – Positive Parenting Program.

https://www.triplep-parenting.net.au/vic-uken/triple-p/

The program is relevant to families with children between 2 and 16 years and provides strategies to deal with specific challenges, such as building children’s resilience and dealing with conflict.

There are courses specifically for parents of toddlers to tweens, and for parents of pre-teens to teens.

It gives parents strategies to:

  • raise happy, confident kids
  • manage misbehaviour so everyone in the family enjoys life more
  • set rules and routines that everyone respects and follows
  • encourage positive behaviour
  • take care of themselves as a parent
  • feel confident they’re doing the right thing.

Sign up to the Triple P program via their website.

NAIDOC Week

NAIDOC week has been postponed this year due to the unprecedented COVID19 pandemic.  However, we can recognise, celebrate, support and champion the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture in ‘Bolt for Gold’.

WHAT IS BOLT FOR GOLD?

Bolt for Gold is a walk or run phone app that allows you to compete from anywhere around the world. The app creates a platform that encourages participation in runners of all abilities to assemble and compete in large-scale races for prizes, without ever having to stray too far from their daily routine. See:

BOLT FOR GOLD X RUN FOR NAIDOC

You can help celebrate, support and champion the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and community in a way unique to Bolt for Gold during NAIDOC Week 5th-12th of July

During this event the aim is to raise funds to give 5-15 smartphones to the Community at Cabbage Tree Primary School, allowing students and the youth of the community access to technology. See the below link for information:
