From the Team 1/2 Classrooms

Since returning to school from remote learning, the Year 1 and 2 students have been immersed in the world of narratives. Students have considered the key narrative components of character, setting, problem and solution as they have read and written a number of fictional texts.

As part of the unit, the Year 1 and 2 students had the opportunity to plan, write and publish their own fractured fairy-tales. Using ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’ as inspiration, students applied their creative genius to fracture the original story in their own way. After drafting, editing and taking on feedback from their peers, the Year 1 and 2 students then had the opportunity to publish their work – complete with front covers, illustrations and blurbs. Between friendly trolls, evil goats, magical bridges and even a troll that lived in Taco Bell, we couldn’t be prouder of the ideas and the stories that our Year 1 and 2 students produced.
