Walk and Wheel Wednesday Update

A huge congratulations to the students in 6ST who have won the walk and wheel trophy each week this term. Is another class able to win the trophy from them? 6DF, 5CB and 4PR haven’t been far off in second place over the first 5 weeks!! I wonder if they can top the leader board!!

Overall in the first 5 weeks of term our active rate is hovering around 50%. This means that 50% of all students are riding and walking to school rather than being driven to school which is great.

Walking and wheeling encourages your brain to release endorphins that boosts mental health. They are also known to boost creativity. These are really good reasons to keep up the walking and wheeling every day!

National Ride2School Day Sticker Competition

This week you will have received an email from me outlining the National Ride2School Day Sticker Competition run by the Bicycle Network. The entry form and competition details were attached to the email.

They are looking for new stickers for National Ride2School Day 2021 and need your child’s help! They want new stickers that celebrate the fun of walking, riding, scooting and skating to school and inspire even more students to get active.

The winning sticker design will become Ride2School’s official sticker and be shared in schools across Australia in time for National Ride2School Day on Friday 19 March 2021. Plus, the student with the winning design will win a brand new BYK bike for themselves and a healthy breakfast for their school.

Entries close on Friday 4th December.

And to finish, here is the Walk and Wheel poem from Wednesday. It was written by Sully in 4PR

When I walk to school each day

I see the birds sing and play.

As I walk up and down

I feel fresh and spin around!

It feels good to walk to school,

After that, I feel so cool!

Stay well everyone, stay safe and stay active!
