Curriculum Day

As a brand new school in 2018, Armstrong Creek School has since operated on year to year Annual Implementation Plans (AIP) to guide the core work we do. Our two big priorities over this time have been (1) developing a positive climate for learning and, (2) maximising performance and student growth in Reading. At the beginning of 2021, we will complete a full review of the achievements we have made so far and set out a strategic plan which will drive the next 4 years of work. The ultimate aim of any school, including us here at ACS, is to continually maximise student achievement, engagement and wellbeing. The school review process allows us to set goals and targets which relate specifically to the needs of our students.

The whole-school curriculum day today was dedicated solely to the self-evaluation element of this process. All staff collaborated to comprehensively review and evaluate ourselves in the two priority areas (Positive Climate and Reading). Over the day we collectively unpacked each area and identified the key achievements we have made along with finding some opportunities for improvement. On reflection, we were quite overwhelmed by the sheer growth and achievements we have made in such a short amount of time. It was an invigorating process and one which enabled us to really celebrate all we have achieved.

Staff input is only one part of the school review; already we have had our parents and students provide their insight and reflections. Together these perspectives paint a comprehensive picture of where we are as a school and where we need to go next. The sky is the limit!

Book Fair

We are really looking forward to seeing all the books available for purchase at our Book Fair next week! As with all events this year, COVID-19 restrictions means that it will look a little different as families are unable to come onsite to browse. We will also only have books available this year and not the variety items (pens, pencils, posters etc).

Dress Up Day Reminder

To celebrate Book Fair all students and staff are encouraged to wear casual dress on

Friday 13 November and dress up as their favourite book character or with our "Arctic Adventure" theme. Snowmen, polar bears, Elsa, Anna, beanies, gloves, snow gear are just a few suggestions. (Due to COVID-19 restrictions there is no gold coin donation)

Unexplained Absences

There are a large amount of outstanding unexplained absences on Compass with regard to student attendance. It is a legal requirement for Parents\Guardians to ensure your child attends school every day and if they are unable to, then an explanation must be provided to the school for your child's absence.

There is an obligation for Parents\Guardians to notify the school as soon as possible on the day of the absence, using the school's preferred method of entering the absence on Compass.

If your child is absent from school with no explanation it will be marked on their attendance as an 'unexplained absence'.

We ask that you please update any unexplained absences on Compass as soon as possible.

School Photos

Leading Image photographers will be at school on Wednesday 18 November to take Home Group, Leadership (School Captains, House Captains and SRC) and Sibling photos.

Students who were not at school for the Photo Day in February will also have their individual photo taken on this day.

Details on how to order have been sent out via Compass.

All orders and payment are to be made online at www.leadingimage.com.au and need to be placed by 4:30pm on Monday 16 November.
