Scotsburn News

School Photos

The Scotsburn students will be having their school photos on Friday 20th November. Students will start the day at the Buninyong campus, meeting in the courtyard. A bus has been booked to transport the students back to Scotsburn as soon as the photos have been taken

Pie Drive

Hopefully an order form for our Scotsburn Pie Drive made it home in your child’s bag last week. A big thanks to Laura for organising this. It would be great if families could support this fundraiser by purchasing some items and returning the order form and CASH ONLY to your child’s teacher by no later than Wednesday 25th November.

Graduation Tree

Last week, we planted a tree to help mark the time of our 2020 Gr 6’s who are transitioning onto Secondary School in 2021. The tree was generously donated by Bunnings as a “Graduation Tree’. As we know, it’s been a tricky year for all students, but it’s nice that we can have a lengthy reminder of the Scotsburn 2020 Gr 6’s for years to come.

NAIDOC Week

NAIDOC Week 2020 will be celebrated from Sunday 8th to Sunday 15th November. NAIDOC week recognises and celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.  This year the Leigh Catchment Group, along with the students and staff of Buninyong Primary School – Scotsburn Campus, pay respect to the Traditional Owners of our surrounding land and water, the Wadawurrung People. We are proud to present a ‘Self-guided Cultural Walk of Mount Buninyong.’ By using the free Wadawurrung App the students were able to identify native plants and animals they would see around Mount Buninyong. Students then drew them onto a poster, labelling both animal or plant name in English and Wadawurrung. Part of the learning journey was educating the students how to pronounce the names in the traditional language. These posters will be displayed to view and test your language skills, for NAIDOC Week around the Crater Walk at Mount Buninyong. Starting at the bottom car park on Blackberry Lane, up the walking track to the crater and around the walking track that surrounds the crater. An easy walk approximately 1km, 20 minutes. You could even download the free app before you go and have some fun learning some Wadawurrung words like we did. A big thank you to Bianca Fammartino form Leigh Catchment Group for organising the activity, gaining funds and helping out along the way!

Scotsburn P-2 Fun Afternoon

Unfortunately the P-2’s will not get to enjoy their sleepover this year. Instead, we have organised a ‘Fun Afternoon’ for the P-2’s. This will take place on Thursday 26th November. Scotsburn Campus P-2 students are invited to stay at school from 3.30pm – 5.30pm. An early BBQ tea will be provided along with heaps of fun. More information will be coming home very soon.

2021 Organisation

Although we have just entered term 4 of 2020, we also have an eye on 2021. If you are planning on not sending your child to the Scotsburn Campus in 2021, please contact Shaun ASAP.

Parent Opinion Surveys

A big thanks to those parents that completed their survey. We hope to have the results back soon so that we can continue to help the campus to flourish.

Kinder Transition Day

Scotsburn welcomed 4 extremely happy and excited kinder students last week who are ready to embark on the start of their school journey in 2021. With a quick hug and wave, each entered through the gate with a big smile, eager to meet each other and see what fun things were installed. The children had a wonderful time and they are very much looking forward to returning! The next transition day will be held on November 18th, our fingers are crossed as we hope for an orientation day for the kinder students this year.

Friday Rotations

Our Friday rotations for Term 4 have started positively. It’s been so nice to see the students gardening, cooking and learning more about sustainability.
