Josie O‘Baoill has been representing ASC and the New England at the Junior State Debating Championship at The Women’s Coege at the University of Sydney.

The JSDC tournament sees each region select a representative team from those schools who competed in 9&10 Premier’s Debating Championship during the year.

The regional teams come together for a three day camp and a series of round robin debates before a final series and one region being declared a winner. This year the Western, Riverina and New England regions competed as a combined team and won 2 out of 5 debates.

Congratulations WREN on successfully representing your regions and congratulations Western Sydney on winning the competition.

Debating at The Women’s College at the University of Sydney, the Year 8 ASC team competing in the Premier’s Debating Challenge for Years 7 and 8 State Championship as the New England Regional winners. It has been a hectic couple of days, with the girls participating in 5 debates in just over 24hours. Whilst the results may not have gone in our favour, they have engaged in some very mature and close debates on some tricky topics and represented ASC admirably and with pride.

Most importantly, they’ve learnt a lot and had fun!!
