ASC Agriculture - Livestock Team

Our Livestock Team recently represented ASC at the Northern School’s Prime Steer Competition. It was a fantastic 3 days of camping and competition at the Manilla Showground. Competition was against a number of New England, North West and North Coast schools and involved a ‘Hoof and Hook’ competition as well as a paraders and junior judging competition. Our team was made up of 16 excellent students from years seven to eleven and six head of cattle.

We were fortunate to achieve a number of pleasing results with a first, second, third and highly commended awards across 4 different cattle classes. Our students had great success in the junior judging competition with Grace Kreinberg awarded second in the 12/13 age group and Amelia Kelly awarded third and Aliyah Snape highly commended in the 14/15 years. This was the girls first Agricultural competition so amazing results.

Our Livestock Team students in attendance did a fantastic job of representing our school. They were well mannered, hard working, immaculately behaved and presented. It was a pleasure taking such wonderful students on excursion.

A big thank you to our camp mum Ms Ella Pringle for all her hard work and to Mr Richard Ogilvie and family at Te-Angie Poll Herefords for their very generous donation of cattle.

Our Livestock Team is now busy preparing our next six Limousin and Limousin cross steers for our local New England shows early next year and then the Sydney Royal Easter Show where a fifty year celebration of the Limousin breed in Australia will be held. What a fantastic opportunity for our keen, young Agriculturalists.
