Principal's Message

HSC Success in 2022 

Goodbye to 2022 and hello to 2023. A very happy new year to everyone.  

The end of year saw the release of some wonderful HSC results for our year 12 students. Our top ATAR rank (98.8) was achieved by Brock Parsons and was followed very closely by Jerrie Tran. Jerrie achieved on the All-Rounder’s list which means that she achieved band 6 or equivalent in 10 of her HSC units. Fifteen students achieved 23 mentions on the Distinguished Achievers List. This means that they achieved a band 6 or equivalent in their subjects.

Congratulations to all of our graduating year 12 students who achieved many personal bests and many of whom received early offers to university course of their choice. 

Staffing Confirmations 

2022 saw the end of the amalgamation staffing agreement and our transition into the entitlement staffing. A number of positions were confirmed, and appointments made in the last few weeks of 2022. We will begin 2023 with a number of new permanent appointments. 

Deputy Principals- Sarah Mills and Sarah Travis will begin their permanent positions as Deputy Principals in Term 1. Ms Mills (aka Miss Sarah) joins us from the Armidale IEC where she was the substantive Head Teacher. Ms Travis joins us from the Regional Service Delivery Team and has worked substantively with our school’s support unit throughout 2022. 

HSIE- Lorna Ahern will begin her position as substantive Head Teacher of HSIE in Term 1 and she returns to the NSW Public Education system after some time spent with local private schools. Also in HSIE, Ms Brittany Freeman will take up her permanent position within the faculty and also continue in her role as Year Adviser for Year 8. 

Science- Dr. Greg Czaban will take up a permanent position in the Science faculty. Ms Jessica Amos will join the faculty from Bulahdelah Central School and Tahlia Stewart will also be joining the faculty. Tahlia was previously at Warhope Central. 

Mathematics- Claudia Nordstrom will be joining us from Coleambally High School. This a return to family in Armidale for Claudia. Also joining the ASC Maths faculty in 2023 is Rebecca Lewis. Rebecca joins us from Guyra Central School. 

PDHPE- Andrew Watkins takes on his first permanent role in the NSW DoE. Andrew’s sport of choice is football, and he joins us from Kurri Kurri High School. 

English- Morgan Walsh will join the English faculty in 2023. Morgan was previously at Young High School. 

Back to school dates 2023 

We look forward to having our students back in 2023. 

Friday 27th and 30th January- Staff development Days (no students) 

31st January- Year 11, 12, 7 and Peer Support Leaders Return 

1st February- All students return.
