Art

Our Prep and Grade One, Two and Three students have been working really hard on their 3D Clay pieces.  Using Gingerbread Houses as inspiration, the students have made their own houses, complete with window, door and roof details. Over a number of weeks the students have been adding 3D products to bring their houses to life. Once they are complete they will look good enough to eat.  The Junior School students have also had the opportunity to explore Monoprinting (a printing process used to produce a single printed image).  The students enjoyed using pattern to individualise their sea creatures and were thrilled to see their images transfer to the paper.

Grades Four and Five have been working on a 3D Portrait, with a Picasso-inspired twist, using recycled cardboard.  The students have been exploring the different Art Elements that Picasso has used in his art work; from the colours he used, to the placement of features and the variety of sizing.  The students have used foam and slicks to add details and give their work an easily recognisable Picasso-look while ensuring they use their own creativity.

Our Grade Six students have been working hard on their final major art piece for primary school.  They have been planning and painting a mini surfboard that will be displayed at the Grade 6 Graduation Ceremony.  During this extended piece, students have designed lettering and learnt techniques to create a design, based on Street Art.  We are very much looking forward to seeing these displayed altogether in just a few weeks.

The Extended Art class have now completed their versions of a famous artwork.  The boards were presented to the Wider School Community at an assembly.  The 6 different designs are now on display in the Art Room and have been a source of great delight for all of the classes that visit each week.
