Grade Five

Grade 5 2022 Newsletter Reflection

This year in grade 5, we have had some very wonderful and amazing events that we have not been able to hold in a couple of years. Such as Grade 5 Camp. Grade 5 camp had a great impact on allowing us to make new friends, which was a great way to kick off the year! In term 3 all the grade 5’s picked a few events and participated in Athletics at Casey Fields. This allowed us to enjoy getting out in the sun and to have friendly competitions against our peers. This term we have written leadership speeches in order to be in the running for a school leadership role. These past few weeks have taught us about leadership and what it means to be a leader at Oatlands Primary School. Last term we got to meet our buddies and we get to share a special connection with each other for the following year. We had a great opportunity to show leadership behaviour towards our buddies and younger students.

Grade 5 has been a wonderful experience for us to make new friends, enjoy time with others and to be taught by a spectacular teacher.

Grade 5 in 2022 was a great year, with many exciting events. Grade 5 Camp was new to all of us, and we had lots of fun participating in all of the activities, despite the bad weather. It was a great way to get to know some of the students from other classes, and make some great memories. Our Grade 5’s had an amazing time participating in swimming, cross country, athletics and basketball. Some of the Grade 5’s started by competing against our school to competing at Regionals and State. We did extremely well. We got new buddies, and were paired with the Prep year level. It has been a great way to bond with the younger students and learn how to befriend children we wouldn’t normally see much. All students that attended the fete had a great time, and loved going on all the rides with their friends and family. Our most recent event has been the Dance Production. All the dances were amazing, and everyone enjoyed taking part in this event.

This year was filled with amazing, fun experiences. Earlier this year all of the Grade 5s got to go on a trip to Camp Rumbug. We were separated into 11 different groups and made lots of new friends. Then we had Athletics/ Cross Country. It was really fun and it taught us to not give up. We competed with many schools and everyone showed their best effort. For Athletics we did many activities and we showed a positive attitude and fairness. All Grade 5’s loved the event and we showed our strengths. This year we also met our buddies. Everyone made friends really quickly and we all enjoyed doing the fun activities, as well as being a role model to our new Prep pals. We have kept strengthening our relationships through the year. We haven’t had buddies for a few years, so it was a pleasure to be back to normal! Towards the end of the year, we all wrote a speech about leadership and then we shared it with our classes. Children who got into the next round read their speech in front of the Grade 4s, 5s, and principal team. Then everyone voted. The kids who had the majority votes were able to have an interview with the principals. Soon we will know who our future leaders are. We have loved Grade 5 and have learned so much this year, but we're looking forward to our final year of primary school.

Grade 5, 2022 has been a wonderful year. We got to try new things and have great fun on the wonderful journey. Camp has been amazing, the first time for us. We did ziplines and giant swings and we had a lot of fun. We all had fun at camp but now it’s time to go back to school to talk about the wonderful Athletics Day Carnival. We ran, we jumped, we leaped, we had fun. Can you believe we did more running?! We had Cross Country, which was tiring but a lot of fun. Let’s dial it down a little, maybe something to do with food. We also had the Kitchen of course, how could I forget. The wonderful kitchen where we made tasty snacks. We can’t forget about book week of course, we enjoyed celebrating the Indigenous you see. Now it’s time to have some fun, for the School Fete has just come. The rides, the food, oh we had so much fun. Another lovely thing was that we had our kind little buddies, we made crafts, we laughed, played and talked and just had a great time. We also had our fantastic Production, we rocked and we rolled to our song “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley. To top it all off we wrote leadership speeches. We worked so hard to get a role to help the school become a better home. The year is coming to an end, but the fun we had will not be forgotten, for in 2023 we will make new friends and start the fun all over again.

Grade 5 was an absolutely awesome year! After coming out of a year of lockdown and remote learning, we hit the ground running and were off to an amazing start! Grade 5 Camp was a terrific new experience for everyone, and we made lots of new friends and overcame our fears. This year, we met our younger Prep buddies, and we've had lots of time to connect with them. We've been involved in lots of fun activities with them, such as making up secret handshakes, reading to each other, or just eating our lunch together. Recently, we had our Dance Production, and thanks to Tabitha, our dance teacher, it was a big success! 5KV and 5BR danced to the song "Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley, and we definitely had a wonderful time Rick Rolling our way through the Production! Also, the last few weeks of Grade 5 have been about leadership, and we've had the chance to apply for a role! Grade 5 has been a marvellous experience, and we've all created many memories through these amazing months!

This year in Grade 5 we have had a stunning year. We had many fun events that filled us with joy. We started off the year with making new, kind and caring friends, and learning lots of new things. We had a fantastic time at Camp Rumbug. It was so lovely to go to camp seeing that it had been awhile since we had been able to head to fun places with friends. The activities at Camp Rumbug were so much fun, especially the Giant Swing and Flying Fox. We loved hanging out with our friends and having the camp food. This year we have had so much fun cooking delicious treats with Rosemary in the kitchen. We have cooked brownies, sausage rolls, apple and cinnamon scrolls, and cookies. We loved Grade 5 Sport and versing the other grades. One of our favourite games we got to play was Ultimate Frisbee. The Grade 5’s have had a tremendous year! We wish the future Grade 5’s of 2023 lots of fun and an awesome year, just like we did.

Grade 5 has been a rollercoaster full of fun. There have been many exciting events like Grade 5 Camp and the Dance Production, but I’m sure many of us, myself included, also enjoyed just spending quality time in class with our teachers and classmates. Thankfully, there were no lockdowns this year, so school life has been able to progress about as normally as we can probably get. I have enjoyed learning about many different things from different subjects over time, and the fun spent with the class. It’s been a terrific year, and hopefully just as fun next year.
