Inaugural Tech Team Awards

Last Tuesday we had the first ever Tech Awards, hosted by the Girton Tech Team. The event was for students in both Junior and Senior Tech Teams and had performances by students. A play was written as homage to the graduating year 12 students, as well as the new 2023 captains, Ethan Collins (10 Jones) and James Trotter (9 Jenkin) gave speeches thanking the students. 

All students were rewarded for their efforts throughout the school year, most receiving their first year of service certificate. Junior Tech of the Year went to Jack Pickering (6 Millward) and Senior Tech of the Year went to Oliver Davison (12 Riley). 

We had a few special guests including staff from Bendigo Venues and Events and the founder and former MiC of Theatre Technicians, John McMillian. 

Some senior students competed in a cabling rolling challenge with the BV&E Cable Rolling champion, and also former Girton Tech Student, Callum McClure (2001), with Adrian Campagnaro (12 Frew) taking the win. 

They finished off with a small break up party, which had to be done this early as they will be working on the school’s events later in the term.
