Maths Matters:

With such as busy time coming up for families with the lead up to Christmas and the summer holidays, it’s a great time to put everyday maths into action! Everyday activities that you could involve your children in, include

• Budgeting and shopping for Christmas presents
• Writing lists and shopping for food
• Planning trips - distance, itinerary, and all of the calculations a trip involves!
• Exploring what we know about 2D shapes & 3D objects to create Christmas decorations
• Using 2D shapes and patterns to make your own Christmas wrapping paper
• Planning Christmas displays with lights- Measuring the length of christmas lights needed for outside the house
