Chaplain's Corner

Hi Everyone,

Who is EMERGING MINDS?

For over 20 years the Australian organisation, Emerging Minds has been dedicated to advancing the mental health and emotional wellbeing of Australian infants, children, adolescents and their families. The organisation now leads the National Workforce Centre for Child Mental Health).

Emerging Minds develops mental health policy, interventions, in-person and online training, programs and resources in response to the needs of children and their families. Their resources are freely available in their web hub.

I have completed a number of their online courses, and have gleaned important information on many issues children and families may face, including family breakdown, trauma, anxiety to name a few.

This week EMERGING MINDS announced a new EMERGING MINDS FAMILIES hub: https://emergingminds.com.au/families/

It is a brand new suite of resources that have been developed to meet the needs of parents and families looking for information and support regarding their children’s and young person’s mental health.

Emerging Minds Families offers practical, accessible and evidence based information including videos, fact sheets, animations and podcasts. The resources are available free. Currently there are over 70 resources covering topics such as

  • Understanding and managing anxiety in children and young people
  • Responding to and managing the impact of natural disasters
  • Videos on specific types of professionals and how the support they offer
  • Infant mental health and wellbeing
