Foundation (Prep)

Literacy

This week we have focused on the letter Nn. We have concentrated on the correct formation of both the upper and lowercase letters and brainstormed words that begin with this sound. In reading we have focused on 'Setting' and talked about the different places books happen.

Our writing continues to improve as we focus on writing the sounds we can hear, using spaces between our words and experimenting with the use of full stops and capital letters. Well done to the students who bravely read their recounts of Edendale Farm, at Assembly today.

Maths

We revisited Addition this week and practised counting on from the bigger number. We also had a lesson about Symmetry. The students worked in small groups and enjoyed creating a poster of their own symmetrical shapes.

Science

Continuing with our science unit, Weather in My World, we looked at symbols that are used to tell us about different types of weather. The children did a cut and paste activity in their weather journals and labelled the different symbols that they found.
