Rugby

Rugby training commenced yesterday, and it was great to see all teams back training at Oxford Falls.

Can I remind students that if it is their intention to play rugby this season they must be at this session, not only to meet their co-curricular requirements but also prepare themselves physically for the start of the season in Term 3.

All teams will train Tuesday/Thursday in Weeks 7 and 8, Tuesday only in Week 9.

NOTE: During these sessions students will participate in drills and skills that comply with protocols from the ISA (outlined by Mr Couani) as well as guidance from New South Wales Rugby, who have been directed from the AIS Framework for rebooting sport document. As these levels develop, students will be re-introduced to contact training and internal trialling will take place during training sessions.

Transport will be provided to and from Oxford Falls and students are encouraged to use the buses provided. Four buses will depart OLD church at 3:30 pm and return from Oxford Falls from 5.00 pm and 5:15 pm, with students arriving back in Chatswood between approximately 5:30 pm to 5.45 pm. Parents are reminded that if they are picking their son up from Oxford Falls, they must follow the same guidelines to that set out at school.

The College also hopes to offer sessions, clinics and trial matches during the school holidays, with more details to follow in the coming weeks.

Rugby Registration

All Year 7-12 students wishing to play rugby are required to be registered to be included in a team, allowing the school rugby administrators & coaches to best prepare for the coming season, plus allow your P&F Rugby Club to best support and communicate with you! There are no trials or grading days, all students of different shapes, sizes and abilities can find a home within the SPX Rugby Program.

Rugby registration will re-open in the coming weeks and all students must be registered. Please check Woodchatta in the coming weeks.

These sessions will run on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons of Weeks 8 and 9 this term. Players will travel by bus at 3.30 pm to our usual training courts at the Roseville Tennis Club on Clanville Road, and leave the courts at 5.15 pm and return to school for 5.30 pm.

Players will all be advised of the details and of the protocols/guidelines for tennis training.

Debating

Our internal St Pius X College Debating Competition will be an online competition run through TEAMS. It will be held every Friday afternoon in Term 3.  Times of training and debates will depend on the schools who are competing with us in our online competition.

We will meet in Week 8, Friday 19 June at 3.30 pm in B10 and will then move to our year group training rooms.  As we are creating this online experience as we go it will be a work in progress:  we need to ensure that we follow Covid-19 protocols and support the standards set by SPX and participating schools.

There will be awards for the teams who are successful through our Term 3 season.
