What are Year Fives doing at IMAX on a school day!?
Hello, my name is Navya, I am a grade six student in 6D. On 24 February 2020, I
interviewed some year fives about their excursion to IMAX, which they visited on 21
February 2020. Here are their responses to my questions.

Luke
Question 1: Where did you go and what was the experience about?
“The year 5 students went to IMAX, and watched a film about natural disasters.”
Question 2: What was the purpose of your visit?
“The purpose was to inquire into natural disasters.”
Question 3: Did you enjoy the experience and why?
“I liked the excursion and film because I learnt about natural disasters, (obviously) and, how
they look, occur, form, and other interesting things.”
Verity
Question 1: What did you learn?
“I learnt about natural disasters. Some of the natural disasters that I saw were, bushfires,
tornadoes, and avalanches. I learnt about the causation of these natural disasters, their
appearance, and more specific facts. I now know that avalanches are caused when glaciers
start melting, get softer, become cracked over time, or become weaker over time. When the
glaciers fall they create avalanches!”
Question 2: What emotions did you go through when watching the film?
“I felt scared. This was because I imagined a natural disaster hitting me while I was watching the film. I also felt sorry for the people who went through any type of natural disaster.”
Question 3: Did you enjoy this experience?
“I enjoyed this because it was FUN!”
Lily
Question 1: What was the purpose of your visit?
“To teach us about natural disasters and the cause of them, also, how they are formed, and
other relatable topics.”
Question 2: What did you learn?
“I learnt how much damage natural disasters cause. Another fact I interpreted was that
natural disasters are fatal!”
Question 3: What emotions did you experience when watching the film?
“I felt empathetic for the people who went through the traumatic experiences of a natural
disaster.”
Ms. Pile’s Students
Cooper
Question 1: Where did you go and what was the experience about?
“Year 5 students watched a movie called Extreme Weather! We watched it at a place called IMAX!”
Question 2: What did you learn?
“I learned about a few natural disasters, how they occur, how they form and information
about their appearance. I also learnt things about tools people use to predict when the
weather may change, leading to when a natural disaster will/may happen. People use
different tools to measure the wind speed of a tornado or how fast tornadoes can travel!”
Question 3: In your opinion, was the excursion a good idea?
“Yes! It was exciting to watch because of the big, clear screen! The volume was loud, that
made the experience cooler! The film also had high details and I thought this was an
interesting film!”
