School Council

REPORT

Our last school council meeting on 17 February 2020, convened to finalise agenda items from 2019, and to thank and farewell our past school council members. A big thank you to our staff representative, Tracey Nelson, and to parents, Steven Knowles and Kiran Bhagat.

A warm welcome to our new teacher representative Joshua Lowe and to parents, Simon Torok and Demos Karkazis, who were nominated for 2020. We also welcome a new parent, Luda Unitt, who has been nominated as a community member.

Our Principal’s Report, presented by Mrs Lynne Foster, included a warm welcome to our new teaching staff, Mr Joshua Lowe (1L), Miss Samantha Nasreddin (2N), Miss Erin Green (4G), Miss Charlotte Pile (5P) and Miss Alexandra Saxton (6S). We also welcome back Mr Damian Cripps (3C) and Mrs Kathryn Parker (1R), who have returned from leave, and to Mrs Fairlie Halligan, who will be working with Prep T one day per week.

Our new 2020 Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) is underway, with our teachers and leaders busily working towards our goals, as set out in our strategic plan and advice from our 2019 school review.

We were given a building works update, which included the installation of root barriers at the front of the school, and outlined meetings with builders and architects, and planning for future electrical upgrades.

Our school council discussions included a Student Representative Council report. Our student leaders will work with our principal, Lynne Foster on the architectural designs of our new playground.

The Education Sub-Committee has created and endorsed the new mobile phone.

A big thank you to the Social and Fundraising Sub-Committee for their hard work in 2019, especially for organising the Murrumbeena PS carnival, which raised $31,000.
