Career Pathways
On Tuesday 2 April, a group of selected students from the St John's Regional College cohort attended the South East Local Learning and Employment Network Careers Expo and Try-A-Trade Day.
These students had been chosen because of their interest in future planning, as it was an opportunity to talk with industry and a range of education and employment providers.
Students gathered a large range of resources to help them map out and take charge of their career pathway.
It is great to see our students branching out and trying new things, as well as asking the questions that will help them get to where they are going.

Talent Quest 2019
Undoubtedly one of the most anticipated events on the college calendar is our annual Talent Quest. This year saw a record number of auditions and after much deliberation the list of acts have been finalised with these students busy rehearsing for their chance to shine on stage. Performances will include bands, solo and group vocalists, dance numbers and some very impressive instrumental pieces.
This year’s finals are being held on Thursday the 9th May at 7pm

Science in Primary Program
This term, St John’s is working closely with St Francis de Sales as their students learn about conservation and the impact that we have on the environment. To help them with this, a group of St John’s staff and students have begun facilitating a series of immersion activities.
During these sessions students from grades 3-6 have the opportunity to explore the underwater environment of Banjo Patterson Lake and using equipment on loan from the college can observe the microscopic life which forms an integral part of this aquatic world.
Students from all year levels engaged enthusiastically in their underwater explorations, impressed with both the microscopic life and the equipment used to see them, with one saying ‘I can’t wait to get to high school so I can use these (microscopes) all the time’. Whilst the St John’s students were impressed with how quickly the younger students picked up on how to correctly use the equipment, seeming a little disappointed when their help was no longer needed as much.

Year 8 Caritas Bake Sale
On April 2 Mr Miles’ Religion class organised a bake sale to raise money for the St John’s Caritas fundraiser. We baked short bread and cupcakes, and sold lolly bags and cans of soft drink. We were very successful and we managed to raise $285 in proceeds. We found the experience very fun and rewarding.

SIS Big Night
On Tuesday 26th March a select group of St John’s Performing Arts students participated in the annual SIS Big Night Concert at the Drum Theatre. The evening brings together students from all the SIS school to perform a range of music and dance numbers that are prepared after only two days of rehearsals. Students are congratulated on their enthusiasm and the outstanding way in which they represented the college at what was a wonderful evening.
