STUDENT LED CONFERENCES

On Tuesday night at the student led conferences it was wonderful to see the students talking to their parents about their learning and explaining what they had learnt and their learning achievements. Many parents were very positive about the experience and were impressed with how well the students articulated their learning. Thank you to staff for all the work in assisting the students with their learning and portfolios, and also for helping them to prepare to share the learning with their parents. Congratulations to all of the students for their excellent learning over Semester 1. A very successful night.  Well done to everyone!!

Year 5 Makers Market

On Tuesday the year 5 students had a ‘Makers Market’.

During the Unit of Inquiry, ‘How We Organise Ourselves’, the students explored how money is central to the way people live all over the world. They explored how different factors influence the way people earn and spend their money. Throughout the inquiry process, the students developed an understanding of how people can set up systems to earn and spend money. They created a business plan that developed their thinking skills and self-management skills as they organised a Makers Market, where they produced and sold a handmade product to the school community in order to raise funds for a charity.

They raised $1677 which is a fantastic effort. The money they raised will go to the RSPCA and ‘Beekeeper Parade’ organisation whose mission is to create products that change the world, do no harm to the environment and build schools in Vietnam.
