FROM THE PRINCIPAL

TERM 2 - WEEK 9
To the St Nicholas School Community,
FIRST EUCHARIST
Congratulations to our Catholic Year 3 students who last weekend joined the Parish community to celebrate their First Eucharist. I thank Mrs Renee Dunst, our Year 3 teachers and all involved in preparing our children so thoroughly.
ST NICHOLAS SCHOOL RUGBY TEAM
An enormous congratulations to our St Nicholas School Rugby team who were last week crowned Diocesan Champions! This is an outstanding achievement and the record books will need dusting off to find the last time this feat was achieved. The team, under the watchful guidance, of Mr McMurtrie, Mr Eather and our very own Mr Lane, won a hotly contested final against St Francis Xavier, Narrabri. After finishing at 5 all, the teams progressed to extra time and ultimate golden point before the stalemate was broken with a St Nicholas try!
The St Nicholas School Rugby Team will now travel to St Joseph’s College in Sydney on Monday, 5th August to compete against the other Diocesan winners from across the state.
SCHOOL IMPROVEMENTS
Your children might have recently reported to you some significant improvements in our grounds at St Nicholas. The consistent demand for improvement at St Nicholas School is not restricted to teaching and learning, and includes all facets of our school.
Please take a moment to view the following photos of:
Two new netball courts
Covered area for our stage 3 students bags
New soft fall for our play equipment
Mulching of the bank leading down to the railway line
Further items on the agenda include the installation of a bore to future proof the school from droughts, creation of a second sandpit for our children, artificial grass placed strategically around the school
DUNCAN KROUGH
Congratulations to Duncan Krough, Year 5, who was this week awarded the Junior Speech Scholarship from the City of Tamworth Eisteddfod Society. A wonderful achievement.
Have a wonderful week.
