2019 Senior Years Careers Expo

The 2019 Senior Years Career Expo was a day full of information and events for students in Years 9 to 12. The day launched the 2020 course selection process and was designed to assist and equip students with the necessary information for them to make informed decisions about their future pathways.

David Perry Hall was full of displays covering all the VCE subject areas as well as information on VCAL and VETiS in the Subject Expo. Students in Years 9 and 10 were able to ask questions of teachers and senior students and gain a greater sense of the requirements and content covered in each subject. It was great to see a number of Year 10 parents attend the Expo as well.

From lunchtime, the Senior Centre hosted the Tertiary Expo. Representatives from most of the major universities, TAFE institutions and some private training providers were available to answer questions and hand out course guides.

Following on from our 50th Anniversary celebrations earlier in the year, we were able to connect with a number of DSC Alumni as part of the 15 Elective Sessions in the middle of the day. Representatives from Vic Police, Aquarena and MEGT along with alumni and guest presenters, shared their career experiences with students on a range of topics including music, law, business, IT, media, real estate, health and robotics.

A big thank you to all our guest presenters and staff for contributing their time and expertise to the day.

Christmas in July Careers Expo

On Thursday, 25 July numerous students attended a student employment expo called ‘Christmas in July’  which was held at Mc2. Students had the opportunity to identify potential employment opportunities from different companies, learn about the recruitment process, explore pathways and attend employment focus workshops.

I enjoyed the event thoroughly. I was able to learn a lot of important information about the recruitment process and hear from various people about their experience in the workforce. Overall, it was a great experience and I really enjoyed attending the different workshops.
