Volleyball Victoria Schools Cup

From Friday, 26 July until Sunday, 28 July our Senior Boys Volleyball Team participated in the Volleyball Victoria Three Day Schools Cup. The tournament features approximately 40 teams all over Victoria. The competition was held at the State Volleyball Centre and our team entered the Year 11 Division in which we placed 3rd and won the Bronze medal. The team played a total of 6 hard-fought matches, whilst refereeing and spectating peers in between.

Our first match was against Keysborough Secondary College. We had a slow start but managed to keep each set close, unfortunately losing 2-0. Next was against Nossal High School. Our communication and teamwork led us to a 2-0 victory to conclude the first day of the Volleyball Victoria State Schools Cup. Day 2 began with a match against Marcellin College. Both teams fought hard but Doncaster managed to get the win after 3 close sets; 19-25, 25-14, 19-17. Our next 2 matches were against Yarra Valley Grammar. Doncaster started strong in both matches, winning the first set 25-19 and 25-17. However, our opposition didn't give up and managed to win the second and third set in both matches. This placed us in the running for the bronze medal.

To win the bronze medal, Doncaster was unrivalled in our energy and team spirit. We defeated Marcellin in 2 sets. For our first 3-day volleyball cup, we were more than pleased with the result and hope to keep training for next year. A big thank you to our coaches Ms Blake and Ms Emanuel for their unwavering support.
