In the next edition of our newsletter, we will provide you with an overview of the curriculum focus for each level across our school.

An Overview of our Learning

Over the last fortnight the Foundation students have been working on making line drawings of flowers using black paper and metallic markers. These were added to the printing background they created in the previous session. They also listened to the book “If the dinosaurs came back” and then used black markers to make a drawing of a city scape, which they will use in the next session to create a collage.

Over the last fortnight the Year 1 and 2 students have been working on creating a piece of Plasticine Relief Art. The Level 1s listened to the very hungry caterpillar and then used plasticine to create a 2D picture of the food the caterpillar ate. The Level 2s listened to the book “The leaves falling down” and created a 2D picture of an autumn tree.

Over the last fortnight the Year  3 and 4 students have been exploring what tone is, and how we can use pencils to create different tones of the same colour. Students used pencils to practise creating a piece of work which required them to create light tone and darker tones. Students focused on blending the colours together so there was no clear starting and end points to each shade. Students also created a landscape using only lines and patterns.

Over the last two weeks the Year 5 and 6 students have used watercolour pencils to create a colourful mandalas.
