Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Guardians, and friends of Nazareth

Welcome to the 2023 school year. So far, we have welcomed the following:

  • 182 new Year 7s, together with forty new students from Year 8 to 12;
  • 20 new staff members and 10 Year 13 mentors (Year 12 2022 past students).

There was a degree of excitement and some anticipated nerves about the unknown.

In the typical Nazareth spirit, all students are made to feel welcome, together with our new parents that have joined the Nazareth Community. Welcome back to our existing families, and thank you for your continuous support.

Our 2023 theme is:

…for all of you are the children of God, through faith, in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:26)

Nurturing an inclusive and diverse culture.

In simple terms, we pride ourselves on being respectful of our diversity and cultural differences. The Nazareth pledge is as follows:

As a Nazareth Community we commit ourselves to accepting everyone as their authentic selves.  Each of us are created by God thoughtfully and deliberately, just as we are. Everyone’s voice will be heard, and everyone will feel loving acceptance and inclusion, regardless of race, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability or age.  We are a welcoming Catholic school for all and respect the dignity of all.

Throughout this year, we will work towards living out our theme in many practical ways.

This week we have had a number of assemblies to articulate the College expectations clearly and to introduce our new staff members. Over the coming weeks, our new staff members will introduce themselves through their profiles and at the Information Evenings. Following are our new staff members:

Elizabeth Kalaitzis, Year 12 2022, was awarded the Applied Learning Student of the Year.

I have attached our other Award winners from the ATAR results released at the end of last year.  These students, including Andrew and Elizabeth, were celebrated at a College Assembly today.

College Expectations can be summed up by the 3Rs – Responsibility, Respect and ResilienceThese have been clearly explained, and they are on Page 12 of the Student (Parent) Organiser. I encourage parents to use the oganiser as this is a means of communication for parents/guardians.  Please check homework and use it to communicate, as well as all the other mediums available to you. Your child’s education is one which we hope we can work in partnership with you and achieve the absolute best outcomes.

Both Mr Justin Duckett and Ms Claire Nailon, our College Deputy Principals, have explained in detail the learning and wellbeing expectations. In their retrospective reflections, both are directly related, and it is hoped that these will result in favourable outcomes.

Car Parking – Drop off and Pick up

Again, thank you for your patience and cooperation. Following are simple suggestions to prevent congestion:

  • Please keep the entrance and exits clear;
  • Do not park alongside the roadway, as you will inhibit the movement of traffic;
  • When exiting the College, if it is congested, turn left and follow Bakers Road to Alpine Cres, then onto Whitehaven Cres, which leads to Jacksons Road – there are several roads from Bakers Road that lead you back onto Jacksons Road. This will speed up pick up and drop off;
  • It is imperative that if you need to turn right, please stay in the right lane only;
  • If you want to avoid congestion, there are several streets alongside the school where students can enter the College, please utilise these if you want to save time.

Information Evenings

Thank you for your attendance and friendliness towards each other and our staff members. It is a pleasure working with each of you and our staff members to ensure that your children have the absolute best learning opportunities.

Keep safe, and God bless

Mr Sam Cosentino
