Instrumental Music Program

Welcome to the Instrumental Music Program at Nazareth College. Instrumental lessons commenced on Monday  6 February and ensemble rehearsals will start in Week 3.

We provide instrumental tuition on piano, strings, guitar, percussion, woodwind and voice.

Lesson times are emailed to students weekly in advance. There is a rotating roster to avoid missing the same class twice. If students do not want to miss class time, lessons can be scheduled before school, during recess or lunch on a permanent basis, whenever possible. Please make a request at the beginning of the semester if this applies to your child.

There are 16 lessons  scheduled for the enrolled students during the each semester and this allows for interruptions that can occur due to public holidays, school excursions, planned tests or illness. Catch up lessons can be arranged during weeks when there are no scheduled lessons.

If the scheduled lesson clashes with tests or excursions, the Instrumental teacher and Instrumental Music Coordinator must be notified via email at least 24 hours prior to reschedule. Please contact the teacher during school hours. Emails received on weekends will be answered when school resumes.

Students must attend all scheduled lessons and, in the event of absence for reasons other than school activities, a note or email from parents to the Instrumental Music Coordinator and instrumental teacher is required. Every instrumental student is entitled a maximum of two makeup lessons per semester. Continued absence may result in the cessation of lessons. Parents will be notified when a lesson is missed without prior notice and when the semester quota is achieved.

For Instrumental music lessons, all students will be allocated a class pass on SIMON for the time of their lesson. At this time, they will be excused from their classroom subject to make their way over to the Music Department.

To all students, please record the time and day of your lesson next week and arrive to the Music Department 5 minutes before your scheduled time.

You may drop off your instrument to the music lockers located in the Auditorium at the beginning of the day (please bring your own lock).

Instrument hire information is listed in the Instrumental Music Tuition Application but, if needed, can be discussed with the instrumental teacher.

All students are to enter the Music Area from the Music Studio entrance (through the door near the gym). The Year 7 students will be picked up from their class by their instrumental teacher for their first lesson and shown where lessons take place and where to store the instruments.
