A note from Mr Jackson

Edging Towards the Holidays

Thanks to everyone who have ensured the last two weeks of school have flowed so well. While we have had a number of staff and students away, learning has continued.

Meet the Teacher Day

Monday saw students and teachers gather in their 2023 classes. Over the last few weeks students have had an opportunity to taste a little of what life might be like for them in the coming year. Monday was another step in establishing relationships that would support their transition to learning in 2023.

Big Day Out Bang!

On Tuesday students were run ragged on the Oval in their house groups. Staff arranged a collection of fun activities that saw students collaborating across age groups. From there, students feasted on sushi, embarked on buses and travelled to Northland to enjoy the movies. The day would not have occurred if not for our collaborative staff who made it all happen. Although I was not able to attend, teachers reported that Rosanna Primary students were outstanding in their behaviour and participation in the experience. What a great celebration to end the year!

Year 6 Graduation

Tonight, our year six students will graduate. This will be a moment to mark the transition between primary and secondary education, as well as childhood and early adolescence. We wish all our students well as they venture from us to discover an ever increasing world around them. We will say goodbye to 17 of our families who have seen their children through at Rosanna Primary School. Some of these families sent their first children here in 2011. We will take a moment to thank them, their children and the impact that they have had on our lives and community.  For those families planning to attend, we encourage you to wear a mask and practice social distancing. Thanks again to our teaching staff who have threaded this event together.

Final Assembly

Parents are most welcome to join us for our final assembly that is scheduled to start at 2:00pm on Friday in Chandler Hall. In the current COVID conditions and to minimise the risk of possible infections, we will minimise the number of students in the hall and hold the assembly online. During the assembly, we will be recognising student leaders over the past six months and farewelling a range of students and families who will be leaving us.

While our assembly will start at 2:00pm, the day will officially end at 3:30pm. If you attend the assembly and wish to take your child home prior to the end of the day then please sign them out at the office.

Special Staff Goodbyes

A number of staff will head out on leave at the end of the year. Anita Simpson, Taya Eddy and Kate Arnot have contributed to and enriched our whole community. Their energy, passion and inspiration has shaped more effective teaching and school practices. We wish them well and look forward to hearing of their adventures.

To Emilia, although we have only had you for a short time, you have been a wonderful support to staff and students alike.  We wish you well in your increased role at another local school.

Laura Hicks will also be leaving our shores for the sunny beaches of WA.  We wish you well on your new adventure.  Thank you for your contribution to our leaning environment, you will be missed and we look forward to hearing about the west.

We also bid farewell to Matt Buckley who has been a learning specialist for the last four years and who is moving onto another school. He leaves behind a community that will miss him deeply. He has been a presence to challenge us towards improvement, question us as we define ways forward, but most of all he has been, and will continue to be, a companion on the learning journey and friend to all. Our best regards will travel with him!

End of the Year

We appreciate that due to increasing numbers of COVID and the chance for an early getaway for school holidays (without COVID) that Friday will be the last day at school for many of our students. On Monday, the school remains open for students to attend. It will be an opportunity to continue to prepare for 2023.

On behalf of the staff, we hope that the holiday break is full of renewal after a year we didn’t expect! We hope you are surrounded by family and friends and find opportunities to engage with our remarkable world. Most of all we hope it to be a peaceful time.
