Prep to Year 6

Junior School Nativity Service

We are looking forward to the return of the Junior School Nativity Service next Tuesday, December 6 at 10.20am in the Uniting Church, Hamilton. Our Piccino to Year 2 students have been busily rehearsing their parts and learning the songs that tell this most important Christmas story. There will be photo opportunities at the completion of the Service.

Farewell to Mrs O’Brien

Last Sunday, current and past ELC families and staff gathered at H.I.R.L to farewell Mrs. Frances O’Brien. Frances will be leaving at the end of the school year after 15 years of wonderful service to the College.  Mrs Gabbi Bensch and the Parents’ and Friends’ did an amazing job of organising the lunch and a good time was had by all. It was a very special day.

Star Student Awards

The following students were awarded Star Student awards at this week’s Assembly.

Year 2 – Harry Diprose and Sammie Price

House Public Speaking

House Public Speaking returned to Myrniong after a two-year hiatus.  Students in Years Five and Six gave two-minute presentations to their Houses. Two students will be selected to compete in the House Public Speaking in front of the whole school next Thursday at 12.30pm.  Public speaking is an important leadership skill we value at College. Well done to our upper years’ students who all spoke well and gave it a go.

St Mary’s Street Parade

The St Mary’s Street Parade is on tomorrow evening in Gray Street, Hamilton. All students Piccolo to Year Six, along with interested parents, are welcome to join us and participate in the parade, along with other local schools and community groups. Come dressed in Christmas costume or a ‘touch of Christmas’ and share in the importance of community spirit.

Junior School Diary Art Competition

Thank you to all students who entered the 2023 Diary Art Competition.  It was wonderful to have so many entries to choose from and it was certainly difficult selecting the winners. Every entry is photocopied and pinned to a board so that names are not visible.  Teachers and students had the opportunity to view all submissions and it was wonderful to hear that they both shared similar views on the winning artworks. The final decision is made by out amazing Art teacher, Bec Cameron, who also sees the pictures in an anonymous format.

Congratulations to the following artists who will be featured on the covers:
