From the Acting Principal

It is a busy end to the 2023 school year and students and staff keep on achieving:

  • Firstly, a huge congratulations to Laura Michelmore in Year 10 who was selected in the 2022 Australian Junior Girls' Polocrosse Squad.  Laura is the one of nine girls selected across the entire country, and the only Victorian.  Well done Laura – we are incredibly proud of you!
  • Well done to all students on a successful examination period. All students have now stepped up into their 2023 Year levels with new teachers and new classmates. Students have been supported with study advice and tips on how to manage time.
  • Thank you to Mr Benjamin Hiscock and Mr Ben Singh for once securing the Australian String Quartet to visit here in Hamilton. Our accomplished strings students had the privilege of spending two days in workshops and the community was then treated to a free concert. What a privilege it was to listen to music of this calibre and to hear Junior School Lachlan Reid, Andrew Sun, Arshi Woosantia, Hugo Cameron and Angus Reid join in on stage.
  • The Year 6’s Assembly yesterday was a celebration of their time at Myrniong, the impact the teachers have had on them and a ‘commitment’ to come back to school in 50 years for the bi-centenary celebrations.  They even got dressed up ... showing how they will look when they return in 50 years time.
  • Finally, a round of cricket was played without any rain or wet ground cancellations!

STAFFING

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Miss Angela Kenna to the role of Head of Drama for 2023.

Angela holds a Masters of Teaching and a Bachelor of Fine Arts and has had considerable experience in directing musical productions. She is a talented performer in her own right, as well as a professional photographer and has completed a clinical course in animal therapy. We are thrilled to have Angela joining the College team at the start of 2023.

CHRISTMAS SERVICE SENIOR SCHOOL

After three very long years we are thrilled that our Christmas Service can finally return to the St Andrew’s Church. This will be held on Monday 12 December at 7pm and all students in Years 7-12 are required to attend. This is a meaningful service and a special opportunity for our Senior School community to end the school year together.

OLD FASHIONED SPORTS

On Tuesday 13 December, the school year will conclude with our annual Old Fashioned Sports Carnival on the Myrniong Oval. This year we are hoping to enter a parent team – this is an open invitation to all parents to compete in the egg and spoon race, sack relay and obstacle course. Mums and dads, start stretching the hamstrings! The Old Fashioned Sports will begin around 9.45am.
