Term 4  Week 9

It’s crazy busy now but we are having so much fun…I almost don’t want the year to end! (Almost)

In 3/4 we have been devouring our novel ‘The One and Only Ivan’; we have been sad in parts, amazed in others and laughed too! We can’t wait to finish this novel study and celebrate by watching the movie version so we can compare formats.

For writing we have created a procedural text for the making of our enclosures. We want to design an enclosure that is nothing like the one Ivan lived in for the most part of his life. It has been fabulous to hear how much the students took in from our Zoo camps and to hear their passion for being environmentally and sustainably responsible. I feel there is hope for the future generations to also experience and learn about the special animals in our world.

We hope you like the photos of us creating our animal enclosures as part of our STEM project in Inquiry.

We will be keeping them at school over the weekend so that we can set up a bit of a display on Monday. Feel free to pop in the morning next Tuesday or at pick up time after school.

We have been looking at Christmas and asked the big question???  Is It Xmas or Christmas?

Where did Xmas come from? Have a chat at home as a family and see what everyone's thoughts are. We will also be looking at images on Christmas cards and looking at various Christmas traditions within our faith and what other faiths do at this time of year.

We have our final visit to Nagle Kindergarten on Monday and we have loved this program so much. I am not sure who loves it more? The Kinder children or the Year 4’s?

We hope to do this again next year as it is a great way for the Kinder children to get to know their potential buddies when they come here for Prep. We thank Tess and Nina for their continued support and wish them a fabulous holiday break.

Please remember to check the calendar for all the things happening in these last few weeks; there is A LOT happening to prepare for. Thank you to our Class reps who are hopefully sending out lots of reminders.

On behalf of the 3/4 Team we thank you for your love, support and friendship over this year. It’s been great to finally have a full year AT school and to share this time with such wonderful children.

We wish Ms Levy all the best for an exciting adventure ahead with her growing family and Mrs Murphy the best as she continues in her bigger role at St Agnes. We will miss them both and will always have a spot in our hearts for them.

On a personal note; I would like to thank everyone for their support and kind words when my father passed away; it meant a lot to me. You are a wonderful community and I have loved my role as a leader within it. I wish Ms Tench all the best in her foray into leadership as I step down after 15  years at this school; almost 10 of my 12 fulltime in leadership in one form and another. As I explained to Mr Collis; it’s time to sit back a bit and give the chance for others to lead. I’m looking forward to having less on my plate and trying to learn to sit on my hands more. (I’ll see how long I last without volunteering)

We look forward to catching up with you all at the various events and wish you all a very merry Christmas and a safe and happy festive season.

Finally,

💖please remember to send in donations for the Christmas hampers

💻 iPads are needed fully charged, at school, everyday

Cheers for now,
