Prefect Term 4 Review

What a year it’s been! We would like to say a final congratulations to all Year 12s who have graduated this year, and a special thanks to our Year 12 Prefects of 2022: Steph, Alannah, Finn, Ella, Jarrod, Hayley, Fiona and Tom. In particular, we would like to thank Head Prefects Steph Grant and Alannah Baguley, for doing a brilliant job in leading the Prefect Team this year, we wouldn’t be where we are without you.

Though the 2023 Prefect Team has only been working together for a small amount of time, we have done quite a lot. Firstly, we finalised our team, congratulations to Cody, Leo, Connor, Caeleigh, Kalika, Mae, Millie, Todd and Cope, the Year 11 Prefects for 2023. From there we made progress on the Senior Study area that will be completed by the end of next year. On the wooden seating that has been made by the Hands On Learning students, there will be engraving of names from the community, which is a great fundraiser for the project. The engravings will be done by the Wangaratta Men’s Shed, who kindly volunteered for the project.

Another exciting project that we plan to have completed next year is the painting of murals on the WHS bathroom doors. This idea was presented to us earlier this year by Year 8 student Clara Rocchiccioli, and has taken some time to get started, but we are now happy to say that the winning design has been chosen, and hope to begin painting soon.

In addition to these projects, the Prefect Team will be busy running a food stall at the Swimming Carnival early in Term 1, and will have an investiture assembly during Term 1 to officially welcome the Prefect Team of 2023.

Last week a number of Prefects kindly volunteered to assist at the transition days for next year’s Year 7 students at WHS. Each Prefect helped out in a class and had the opportunity to make strong connections with the students, which will hopefully make their transition into High School easier. Some great memories were made for both the students and Prefects, and the week was a success all round.

Congratulations again to the Year 12s who have just graduated, we hope you enjoy and succeed in whatever you decide to do in the following years. We can’t wait to see what 2023 has in store for all of you!

Gracie and Bree, Head Prefects for 2023
