Principal's Report

Jonathan Rowe

Dear Parents and Carers,

It’s hard to believe that another school year is coming to an end. Through good times and bad times, we’ve found new ways to show our love and support in our classrooms. We’ve found pockets of joy, re-established many of our important cultural norms and traditions, and overcome challenges with returning to face-to-face schooling.

It is pleasing to say, as we conclude the year, it very much feels like our MSC 'Community', the College theme this year, is back and proving to be vibrant, strong and connected. Every day this year I have encountered and experienced the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus through your care and compassion for each other.

At the conclusion of this school year, we give thanks to the staff who have concluded their time at the College; Andrew Rayner, Sarah Stevenson, Yarni MacAlister, Phil Wheaton, Helen Wilken, Louise Lonergan, Molly Smith and Leon Furze. Each have had a significant impact on our students, and I thank them for their contribution. Mr. Darren Beks is taking Long Service Leave next year.

Year 7 2023

Next Tuesday (6 December) we welcome our newest members of the school community as our incoming Year 7 students experience their Orientation Day. There are a raft of new families who join us and it will be a joy to see the interactions and foundation of new friendships and learning. To those who are new families at the College – Welcome!

Year 12 Graduation Mass and Dinner

In my address to parents and graduating students I indicated there were two particularly special moments for me in the school year as Principal,  these being the Graduation Mass and Dinner. The end of a six year journey at Monivae. Along with parents and carers, we have watched them all grow and mature into wonderful young adults, ready to take on the world and find their paths in life. It is extremely satisfying as a Principal, and I’m sure I speak for your teachers, the LSO’s, Office, Library, Admin. and Cleaning staff (and yes it takes a community), and why we dedicate our lives to educating and supporting our students. Our primary objective is that they have felt loved, cared for and valued and within this environment been able to flourish.

Thank you for being part of the Monivae community in 2022.   If this is your last association with the College, thank you for your contribution, if you are returning next year, enjoy family and holiday time together. Have a wonderful Christmas, God bless and thank you!

 Advent prayer:

Everyday God

Thank you for the wondrous ways you are part of every corner of our lives. Deepen in us a constant awareness of your closeness, of your presence in all we mee, in everything that happens.

Help us be aware of your presence

Amen

Kind regards,

Jonathan Rowe
