From the Principal Team

Mrs Claus, Rudolph and a Cheeky Christmas Elf

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way......

Such a brilliant family evening on Wednesday night!

The tinsel was glistening, and the Christmas spirit could be felt in the air as the Great Ryrie community came together to celebrate.

A heartfelt thank you to Mrs Murray our sensational Performing Arts Teacher , who seamlessly co-ordinated the Carols night. It commenced with brilliant performances showcasing the students’ instrumental talents and the Christmas Carol favourites sung with gusto from our classes.

The staff item was a hit, but poor old Rudolph lost his puff as Mrs Rouda tried to bring in the Christmas joy, no more Chrissy chocolates for Mrs Rouda!

Thank you to all the parents and staff who assisted in the preparation and cooking of over 600 sausages, Wow!

Great Ryrie could have been mistaken in the last few weeks as a place for all creatures great and small, starting with a (wo)man in a big red suit and a mischievous elf delivering elves on the shelves to the Foundation classrooms.

Starfish, butterflies, and owls were sighted, loitering in the Year 3 and 4 classrooms as they set the scene for an afternoon of sharing their information reports.

A fox, a horse, marine life with tentacles and Mrs Pratt was a hit as the bright orange starfish. Mrs Winchester showed off with her colourful, butterfly wings as she prepared to make a chrysalis (cocoon), to take a nap whilst the children shared their amazing facts.

High Tea

In Year 5, students dressed in their Sunday best as they came together for a High Tea to celebrate their 40-book goal.

Students read a novel as part of a group, then discussed the text over delightful cups of tea and fancy finger food. The scones and slices were delicious.

Multicultural Lunch

On Thursday the Year 5& 6 students, who have been studying immigration this term, celebrated with a multicultural lunch. They enjoyed chinese spring rolls, curry from Shiv Indian restaurant, soup from Little Burma restaurant and Turkish delight for dessert.

Some students dressed in their national costume and shared their family traditions. We are so lucky to have such a diverse community.

GRPS World Cup

GRPS World Cup has been excitedly received from our Year 5&6 children. Teams have been playing at lunchtime in the Sports and Performance Centre and the vibe is amazing. Lots of good sportsmanship on display and some incredible ball skills.

A huge thanks to our dedicated and much appreciated PE teacher, Mr MacCartney for putting on such a fantastic event for the kids.

Friendology Ninja

Last week the Friendship Ninjas down in Foundation land walked to Eastland for their URStrong, Friendology excursion. The students participated in three fantastic rotations that revolved around the theme of ‘kindness’.

If you thought, we were slowing down in the last weeks of term there is no chance of that!

Thank you GRPS Staff

Thank you to our wonderful staff for continually giving our students the opportunities to broaden their thinking and experience new challenges.

GRPS Teachers are the best!

Have a great weekend with your  family and friends
