Middle Years

Middle Years Report
Semester 1 2018 has been a busy semester for all students in Middle Years, with excursions, incursions, camps and a range of subjects full on interesting and engaging content. Late last week we celebrated the achievements of 60 students, across Year 7, 8 & 9, on our Gold Level Excursion to Zone Bowling at Knox City. Gold Level students are students who consistently demonstrate positive learning behaviours (e.g. attending class on time, respecting others, putting their best effort into their class work etc). To achieve ‘Gold Level’ students are required to self-nominate by completing the application form. This involves, collecting recommendations from all of their classroom teachers. All students that attended had a great time and I would strongly encourage everyone to consider applying for Gold Level Status in Semester 2.
Student Reflections:
Friday last week we headed to Knox City to play 2 games of bowling at Zone Bowling and eat lunch together in the food courts. The overall bowling experience was entertaining, and it was great to see some of the younger students introducing themselves to older students, and all having a great time bowling together. I would highly recommend applying for a Gold Level award the next time the opportunity arises, even if you decide to not take part in the possible large reward. The day provided an opportunity to meet and befriend people of other year levels. I found that the ability to do that further assisted me in understanding the needs of the students, by being able to do so, I can work with my fellow captains to further improve the school.

I had a great time at Gold Level and would recommend it for anyone who is feeling like they would feel comfortable participating next semester. It was a great opportunity to go and helped people interact with other students in their year level and the levels around them. We had a team building exercise at the start of the day to make us interact with one another and finish the challenge that was made for us.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all students from Year 7, 8 and 9 for their amazing efforts. I can wait to see what exciting opportunities the next semester holds for all students.
