The Challenge is on!

The annual Australia-wide Premiers’ Reading Challenge (PRC) is on! This is not a competition; it's a challenge to encourage young people to read for fun and to read as many books as they can up until 6 September 2019.

Students in Yrs 7 - 10 have already been registered to participate in the Challenge, thanks to our PRC Coordinator, Mrs Celine Bush, from the College Learning Enhancement Team.

All Year 7 – 9 students can request their individual username and password from their Reading Room teacher. Year 10 students can request their login details from their Learning Mentor.

Then all students have to do is:

1. Keep an online record of their reading on the PRC website. For more information go to: https://www.education.vic.gov.au/about/events/prc/Pages/default.aspx?Redirect=1

2. Between now and 6 Sept 2019 students in Years 7 – 9 read 10 or more books, and students in Year 10 read five or more books, from the relevant PRC Booklist for their year level.  For more details go to:  https://www.education.vic.gov.au/about/events/prc/Pages/default.aspx?Redirect=1

Author/ Scriptwriter Phillip Gwynne visit 11 September 2019

Renowned author and scriptwriter, Phillip Gwynne, will be visiting our College Wednesday 11 September 2019 for presentations and workshops. His first novel Deadly Unna? was a literary hit and was made into the feature film Australian Rules, for which Phillip won an Australian Film Institute award.

Mr Gwynne is one of eight children who grew up in a rural house that had no books but who went on to become a multi award-winning novelist and scriptwriter. Phillip has been giving school talks and running writing workshops for 20 years and his presentations and workshops are funny, moving and inspirational. As a father himself, he is passionate about working with young people to nurture and develop their reading and writing. Penguin Random House will publish two new books by this author in 2019: The Lords of Melody (middle reader), and The Break (YA novel).
