In the Classroom

Building a Sustainable House

Currently in Science we are building model sustainable houses and students are learning about efficient energy house design. Through this unit, they have the opportunity to collaboratively plan and design a sustainable house and garden of their own, and construct a model to represent these features. Students have produced super impressive houses with one totally made out of lego and another even has a washing line with pegs and a pug! Students have included solar panels and recycled water as part of their sustainable house with insulation tested by placing the houses in the fridge with a microbit taking temperatures inside the house and compare with that of the fridge. We are creating the Grand Design architects of the future!

Language Perfect

The Year 7 Mandarin classes celebrated their Language Perfect competition win by enjoying Chinese dumplings and Spanish Churros at Lunch on 20 November. For some it was their first time using chopsticks. Some mastered the art very quickly, others went back to using sporks. 祝贺你们! Zhùhè nǐmen! Congratulations! And a big thanks to Education Perfect for providing us with the Churros voucher and the Spanish team for organising the competition!
